Peller Slammed as Lady Claims Master’s Degree Interview Was a Clout Chase

A new twist has emerged in the controversial ₦500,000 cameraman job saga involving Nigerian TikTok influencer Peller, as one of the female applicants has come forward to allege that the entire recruitment was a publicity stunt aimed at generating viral content not a genuine job offer.

The interviewee’s revelation comes shortly after Javis, widely believed to be Peller’s girlfriend, commented online that “Peller was just catching cruise” with the whole interview process. This statement has fueled outrage across social media, particularly among Nigerian youths battling high unemployment despite academic qualifications.

The Viral Job That Sparked Hope and Backlash

Peller, whose real name is Habeeb Hamzat, made headlines earlier this week after announcing he was hiring two cameramen at a generous salary of ₦500,000 per month. However, his requirement that only Master’s degree holders should apply raised eyebrows nationwide.

Over 20 graduates turned up for the interview, many carrying their academic certificates and hopes for a life-changing opportunity. Peller documented the entire process and posted snippets online, adding a mix of humor and sarcasm.

RhamTv Report that One of the female applicants, who later shared her experience in a now-viral TikTok video, accused Peller of mocking her during the interview.

“He asked where I was from, and I said I’m Effik. He looked confused and said, ‘Is that even a tribe?’” she recalled.
“Then he looked at me and said, ‘You’re too big o. Hope you won’t beat me.’ I was shocked. After all the stress, he didn’t hire me—he just used us for cruise.”

Her emotional account struck a chord with many Nigerians, especially in the comment sections of Peller’s original video, where people are now questioning the intent behind the supposed job interview.

Mixed Reactions Online

While some online users defended Peller’s actions as playful content creation, others accused him of exploiting unemployed youth under the guise of employment.

“This is not content—this is disrespectful to educated Nigerians looking for real jobs,” one Instagram user wrote.
“People went through school, served the country, and this is what they get?” added another.

A Symptom of Nigeria’s Job Market Crisis

According to a 2025 report from Vanguard, Nigeria’s youth unemployment rate hovers above 4.8%, with millions of graduates underemployed or idle. Experts say this harsh reality is why many were willing to attend an influencer-led job interview—even one with an unconventional approach.

An editorial onTheNet.ng stated,

“This saga is a painful reminder that Nigeria’s economy and education system are deeply disconnected. Degrees don’t guarantee dignity anymore.”

Others argue that while influencer roles can offer visibility, formal structure, respect, and transparency must not be sacrificed.

Final Takeaway: Cruise or Career?

Whether or not Peller meant harm, the controversy highlights deeper social issues around employment, education, and the influence of digital creators.

“After all the stress, he didn’t even hire me. He just wanted content,” the lady said in closing.
“I felt played.”
