Saheed Osupa has been called ungrateful and a betrayer by Barry Showkey, son of the late Fuji legend Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister. In a recent Agbaletu interview, Barry revealed that he was the one who arranged for Barrister to crown Osupa as the “King of Music,” despite his father’s poor health at the time.
“I was the one that arranged for Baba to go to Ibadan to crown Saheed Osupa despite Barrister not feeling well,” Barry said.
He also mentioned that Biodun Eleni was the person who brought the crown that Osupa wore during the ceremony.

SAHEED OSUPA AND FUJI LEGEND SIKIRU AYINDE BARRISTER
Barry showed deep disappointment with Osupa for not visiting his father during his long illness.
“Saheed Osupa didn’t pay Baba a visit for good four months when Barrister was very sick… Whenever I remember this, I always feel like crying.”
Barry described Osupa as a “user” who took advantage of his father’s fame and his own help to grow his career. He also said many Fuji musicians only showed respect to Barrister after his death because they wanted to gain fans.
According to Barry, after Barrister crowned Osupa, many Fuji artists started seeing him as an enemy.
“No one who has issues with K1 will be friends with him,” Barry said, showing the strong rivalries in Fuji music.
Barry also criticized Taye Currency, calling him an “errand boy” who often ran errands for him and Pasuma in Ibadan.
Barry praised K1 as a clever and smart leader and said that Pasuma and Malaika were close friends to his father. But he accused Osupa of betraying these relationships to gain popularity.

KI THE ULTIMAATE
Barry warned that the problems in Fuji music are hurting the genre’s future.
“Many who benefited from Baba’s help are now coming out to praise him just to hijack his fans,” he said.
He urged Fuji musicians to remember their roots and work together for the good of Fuji music.
Barry Showkey’s words in the Agbaletu interview have reopened the debate about loyalty and respect in Fuji music.
“He used my father and me to get what he wanted,” Barry said sadly.
This interview reminds everyone in Fuji music to value loyalty and respect as they build on Barrister’s legacy.

Barry also expressed confusion and disappointment over Osupa’s silence since the incident. According to him, even after the public crown ceremony and the goodwill shown by Barrister, Osupa made no public acknowledgment or effort to show appreciation in return.
“You don’t just receive honour and disappear. You protect that honour with loyalty,” Barry said.
He claimed that Fuji music was built on respect, loyalty, and elder-blessing, values he feels Osupa ignored.
Barry also hinted that other Fuji artists may have encouraged Osupa’s distance from Barrister in order to stir division. He said many artists who benefitted from Barrister’s open hand later used their closeness with him as a “ticket to gather fans,” rather than protect the legacy they were trusted with.
“They want to be praised outside for loving my father, but behind the scenes they do nothing for his legacy,” Barry added.
He encouraged young Fuji musicians to study the path of the legends and to avoid using controversy as a shortcut to fame.
