Portable Accuses Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy of Blocking Other Artists from Rising(VIDEO) in Nigerian Music Industry

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has once again set social media ablaze after accusing some of Nigeria’s biggest music stars of deliberately blocking other artists from rising in the industry. The outspoken Zazu crooner made the allegation in a viral video, where he openly called out Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy, claiming their long dominance has limited opportunities for emerging talents.

According to Portable, the continued control of the industry by a few top stars has made it difficult for new musicians to gain recognition and access to platforms that could elevate their careers.

He argued that while Afrobeats has grown globally, the local scene still feels closed to many upcoming artists who struggle to break through without strong backing or industry connections.

Portable also criticized what he described as the culture of excessive luxury display among top artistes. He suggested that the constant flaunting of expensive cars, jewelry and lifestyles creates unrealistic expectations and pressures for young musicians trying to find their footing.

In his words, some of these displays are exaggerated and do not reflect the everyday realities of most artists in the industry.

The singer insisted that his comments were not driven by jealousy but by frustration over what he sees as an unfair system. He claimed that many talented musicians remain unheard while the same names continue to dominate charts, awards and international opportunities year after year.

As expected, Portable’s remarks triggered mixed reactions online. While some fans dismissed his claims as attention-seeking, others agreed that the Nigerian music industry needs more openness, mentorship and support for fresh talent.

So far, Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy have not publicly responded to the allegations, but the debate has once again highlighted ongoing conversations about power, access and growth within Nigeria’s booming music scene.
