Oriyomi Hamzat Declares Bid for Oyo Governorship Election in 2027 (VIDEO)

Prominent Oyo State media personality and founder of Agidigbo FM, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election under the banner of the Accord Party.

The announcement was made on Saturday during a well-attended public event at the Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, marking a major step in Hamzat’s transition from media and advocacy into active partisan politics.

Addressing supporters and party members, Hamzat described his decision to run as a response to what he called a “divine calling” and the clamour of ordinary citizens across Oyo State who have encouraged him to take on a leadership role.

He emphasised that his entry into the race represents a shift from his previous position of supporting other aspirants to focusing entirely on his own political ambitions.

“I never imagined I would join a political party, let alone contest an election,” Hamzat said, noting that his past role had primarily been that of a supporter and advocate rather than a candidate.

Hamzat also made it clear that he will no longer mobilise support for other aspirants ahead of the 2027 polls, choosing instead to concentrate fully on his own campaign under the Accord Party.

His declaration signals a growing momentum for the party in the state’s political landscape and adds a high-profile contender to the list of aspirants eyeing the governorship seat.

Supporters and well-wishers at the event expressed optimism about Hamzat’s prospects, highlighting his long-standing engagement with community development and his consistent efforts to amplify the concerns of ordinary citizens.
