Speaking to reporters, Rev Fr Yohana expressed profound gratitude to all who played a role in securing the safe release of the children and staff.
“We thank God for this miracle. Our children and staff are back home safe, and the community’s prayers have truly been answered,” he said.
The kidnapping, which reportedly occurred earlier this month, had prompted a swift response from the Niger State Police Command.

“I couldn’t believe it when I heard my child had been released. We prayed day and night, and today we are finally together again.”
“While our priority was the safe return of the children and staff, we remain committed to bringing those responsible to justice,” a spokesperson for the Niger State Police said.
The kidnapping incident caused widespread anxiety in the region, affecting students, teachers, and parents alike. Schools temporarily suspended classes while security agencies coordinated rescue efforts.
Now that the children and staff have returned safely, authorities are calling for heightened vigilance and stronger community security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Rev Fr Yohana further appealed to parents and community members to remain calm and support the school and local authorities.
“This incident has shown the power of unity and prayer. Let us continue to work together to ensure our children’s safety,” he added.
The safe return of the students and staff is being celebrated as a testament to resilience, community solidarity, and effective law enforcement. As Rev Fr Yohana poignantly remarked,
“No words can express our gratitude. Today, hope has triumphed over fear.”
