Abuja, June 23, 2025. In a striking blend of activism and education, popular social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, better known as “VeryDarkMan” or VDM  took to his Social media handle with a video leading a group of primary school students in uniform to hold a mock class at the gates of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s official residence in Abuja.

The symbolic protest was a reaction to the minister’s threat to withhold 10% of area council allocations over failure to pay new minimum wages to primary school teachers, a move that has triggered a prolonged teacher strike.

Dressed neatly in their school uniforms, the children recited their ABCs with a political twist: “S for Suẹgbe, T for Tinubu, W for Wike,” reflecting not just learning but poignant commentary on the crisis affecting Nigeria’s education sector.

VDM declared that Wike’s gate had become the students’ new classroom, a powerful illustration of how administrative decisions are disrupting children’s education.

Parents, onlookers, and passersby gathered to watch, as police maintained order. The scene served a dual purpose: shining light on the ongoing teachers’ strike now entering its ninth week and holding government officials emotionally accountable for the stalled state of public education.
