President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday unveiled a new national child protection campaign, “See Something. Say Something. Do Something,” in a Children’s Day message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
In the statement, the President described children as “the heartbeat of our nation” and emphasized that they are not just Nigeria’s future but its present strength. He called on Nigerians to become active protectors of children, both offline and online.
“Every child deserves to grow up safe, heard, and free from fear,” Tinubu wrote. “Bullying, violence, and neglect have no place in our homes, schools, or digital spaces.”
The newly launched campaign is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda and aims to mobilize citizens across all levels to report abuse, support victims, and strengthen protection systems. The President also outlined ongoing government efforts, including reforms to child protection laws and expanded access to nutrition, healthcare, and education.
Addressing Nigerian children directly, he said: “To every child reading this: you matter. Your dreams matter. Your voice matters. If you are hurt or bullied, speak up. You will be heard. You will be protected.”
He concluded the message with a pledge to build a Nigeria where no child is left behind or suffers in silence, and where every child grows up in dignity, peace, and love.
Children’s Day is celebrated annually on May 27 to promote the rights and welfare of children across Nigeria.
