Former Kaduna State Governor and current SDP chieftain Nasir El-Rufai has delivered a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, declaring that his presidency is effectively over in key regions of Nigeria.
Speaking on Arise TV’s Prime Time on February 24, El-Rufai painted a grim picture of public sentiment, particularly across the North and Southeast, and cited staggering disapproval ratings across the country.
El-Rufai said, “Two years after the election of President Tinubu, none of the party organs are functioning…the very high expectations we had of the president…based on his track record in Lagos is somehow not materialising”
He criticised the current APC administration’s drift from its founding ideals, lamenting a collapse in governance, security, economic stability, and trade policies.
According to El-Rufai, Tinubu faces overwhelming rejection in the North and Southeast, with disapproval ratings reaching as high as 91%, and even lagging behind in his home base of Lagos, which he claims shows a 78% disapproval rate .
He concluded bluntly, “The guy is gone. He has performed miserably. The economy has stopped, the insecurity architecture has failed, there are no clear trade and investment policies… everything is going wrong.”
