Lagos State’s Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat took center stage at the “One Voice, One Vision, One Victory” APC mega-rally in Ikorodu on June 28, 2025, passionately urging Lagosians to turn out en masse for the July 12 local government elections.

He spotlighted the party’s solid track record especially the notable infrastructure, educational facilities, and community projects initiated by APC-led councils. Hamzat didn’t shy away from comparison: he subtly chastised the Labour Party, stating a former governor from that party “couldn’t build a single school in eight years,” whereas APC-affiliated local governments in Lagos have been prolific in commissioning new schools.
“We cannot let negativity cloud our progress,” calling on supporters to confidently champion the party’s achievements. “Nigeria is moving forward, and Lagos is leading the way with the only rail system in Africa and consistent grassroots development.” Hamzat said.
He asked party members to “speak proudly about our work,” and emphasized that a high voter turnout would be a thumbs-up for President Bola Tinubu, whose accidental low-profile start in office still counts on Lagos’ support.
Hamzat also stressed unity within the party: “Stay focused, ignore the critics, and let’s march forward together.” He reiterated that internal cohesion isn’t just desirable it’s essential for maintaining APC’s dominance in Lagos grassroots politics.
