In a new emotional and revealing statement, the personal assistant to late Fuji music pioneer, Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, has publicly addressed long-standing rumours about how the music legend treated popular Fuji stars like Saheed Osupa, Wasiu Ayinde (K1 de Ultimate), Pasuma, and others.

Speaking with Global Hints The assistant, who worked closely with the late icon for 18 years until his passing in 2010, said Barrister never encouraged division or hatred among Fuji artistes. Instead, his vision was to see Fuji music expand globally beyond Nigeria’s borders.

“Barrister was a father figure to all. He wanted unity all Fuji Musician (Osupa, Wasiu Ayinde, Pasuma, Malaika and other for both the senior and upcoming ones, not rivalry. He never encouraged beef. All he wanted was for Fuji to be respected like reggae, hip-hop, or juju,” the PA said.

Barrister’s Relationship with Fuji Stars

Addressing speculations that the legend allegedly showed favoritism or distanced himself from certain musicians, the PA clarified:

“Whether it was Saheed Osupa, Wasiu Ayinde, or Pasuma, Barrister always treated them with respect. He believed in mentoring, not manipulating.”

According to the PA, Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister was a strong believer in musical growth, cultural heritage, and mutual respect among artistes, especially as the Fuji genre started gaining international attention. He also added that people should stop saying bad things about the Late Fuju icon and let him rest.

Barrister’s Global Dream for Fuji

During his lifetime, Barrister revolutionized Fuji music by modernizing it with live instruments and lyrical depth. The PA added that one of Barrister’s final wishes was to see Fuji music recognized worldwide, just like Afrobeats today.

“He told us Fuji could fill stadiums abroad. But it needed unity. That was always his dream,” the PA recalled.
