Kebbi State, June 23, 2025 In a brazen evening raid, unidentified cattle rustlers gunned down a herdsman and made off with dozens of cattle in Tuwon Tsoro, located in Bagaye Mera ward of Augie Local Government Area, Kebbi State. The attackers descended on the community at dusk, sending villagers into panic as they forcibly seized livestock. According to Daily Post
Community members described a chaotic scene. One resident said the gunmen moved swiftly, their dark silhouettes barely visible against the fading light. In the aftermath, the body of the herdsman was discovered near an empty pen, a tragic testament to the brutality accompanying this economic crime.

Though the exact number of cattle stolen remains unknown, local herders stress that every animal represents both livelihood and family sustenance. One grieving villager shared,
“They took everything my brother worked for; we’re struggling to even bury him now.”
The attack has reignited fears about growing rural insecurity and the escalating boldness of armed gangs. In mid-June, a similar raid displaced families and left communities on edge.
