Enugu, June 28, 2025 Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has once more urged the federal government to free Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), after nearly four years in custody. The appeal was contained in a Friday statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, from their Enugu office.
Chukwu implored President Bola Tinubu to exercise his presidential discretion and diplomatic channels to ensure Kanu’s release, calling it a matter of equity, justice, and national fairness.

He reminded the public that June 27 marked exactly four years since Kanu’s detention in Kenya and subsequent transfer to Nigeria, asserting the prolonged incarceration raises serious questions about the integrity of the judicial process. According to DailyPost.
“Kanu’s detention places a moral weight on the credibility of our judicial institutions. His extradition was irregular, and the grounds for his trial were questionable. Why has he been held so long without a fair hearing?” Chukwu asked.
