Man Utd Eye Betis Star in Potential Swap Deal for Antony

Manchester United are reportedly exploring a swap deal with Real Betis that could see rising star Jesús Rodríguez move to Old Trafford as part of a permanent transfer for Antony.

The Brazilian winger, who failed to make a Premier League start under either Erik ten Hag or Ruben Amorim this season, was loaned to Real Betis in January. Since arriving in Spain, Antony has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence, contributing five goals and two assists in 17 appearances across all competitions. His form has helped Betis mount a serious push for Champions League qualification, with the club just one point shy of the top four in La Liga.

Real Betis are eager to keep Antony beyond this season, with club figures praising his quick adaptation and on-field impact. Sporting director Manu Fajardo recently said the club specializes in reviving underperforming talents, and Antony has exceeded expectations from day one. Midfielder Isco even joked about launching a crowdfunding campaign to keep him at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.

However, Manchester United are reportedly unwilling to let Antony go for cheap, demanding around €50 million to sanction a permanent exit—half of the €95 million they initially paid for him. Recognizing the financial challenge for Betis, United have proposed a compromise: include 19-year-old winger Jesús Rodríguez in the deal.

Rodríguez has been one of the breakout stars of the season, and United scouts have taken notice. While the potential swap could ease the financial burden for Betis, it poses a difficult dilemma, part with a homegrown talent who many believe could become the next Joaquín Sánchez, or lose the revitalized Antony.

With both clubs weighing their options ahead of the summer transfer window, the fate of two exciting wingers hangs in the balance.
