The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) was held on Saturday night in Lagos, honouring outstanding achievements in African film and television. The prestigious event spotlighted the continent’s finest talents, with Lisabi: The Uprising and Seven Doors emerging as some of the night’s biggest winners.
The awards, which celebrate excellence in storytelling, performance, and technical craft, drew industry figures, celebrities, and creatives from across Africa. This year’s ceremony underscored the growing global recognition of African narratives and cinematic innovation.
In the technical and creative categories, Lisabi: The Uprising stood out, securing wins for Best Make-Up (Hakeem Onilogbo), Best Art Direction, and Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa). Seven Doors also earned critical acclaim, taking home Best Score/Music (Tolu Obanro).
Other major winners included Christmas in Lagos for Best Costume Design, Suspicion for Best Sound Design, and Inkabi, which won Best Editing.
In the performance categories, Mercy Aigbe clinched Best Supporting Actress for her role in Farmer’s Bride, while Gabriel Afolayan won Best Supporting Actor for Inside Life.
