INEC Gives Update: Over 56% Election Results Now on IReV Portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 56.47 per cent of the results from the Anambra State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV). According to the commission’s portal at 4:18 pm on Saturday, the update was confirmed. Vanguard News

This development offers the first significant wave of data from the election, offering insight into early trends though the collation process remains ongoing.

The partial upload reflects both transparency efforts and the challenges inherent in ensuring full result dissemination on election day. By getting more than half the results online, INEC demonstrates movementb ut the figure also means nearly half of the results remain to be uploaded and verified.

Electoral monitors say that until full results are available, uncertainties around turnout, regional variations and unit-level disruptions will persist. As one observer put it:

“The numbers we have are an early snapshot, but the story isn’t complete until collation shoes boots and all results are in.”

Election day in Anambra saw about 2.8 million registered voters set to choose their next governor. During voting there were raised concerns about vote buying in parts of the state.

The sitting governor, Chukwuma Soludo, alleged incidents in Nnewi South, stating:

“Even if they share N100,000, never mind, let the people just vote and count the votes.”

Meanwhile, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), John Chuma Nwosu, rejected vote-buying practices outright, saying:

“I will rather stand by integrity and lose honourably than buy votes to win.”

With 56 per cent of results uploaded, the key questions now include:

• Which local government areas are leading or lagging in uploads?

• Are there major variances between early-upload units vs those pending?

• When will INEC complete full upload and commence the formal declaration of results?

As the process moves forward, stakeholders are calling for vigilant monitoring of the remaining results to ensure no units are excluded or delayed without good reason.

“While progress is visible, patience is required until every polling unit’s result is accounted for, full clarity remains a future conversation.”

The uploading of more than half the results is a positive step for the electoral process in Anambra State but only a milestone, not the finish line. Nigeria and Anambra’s electorate will be watching closely as INEC closes out the uploads, finishes collation and works toward a credible governor-elect announcement.
