Jane Edidiong Ufot, the second daughter of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has released a disturbing video on social media, accusing her father of orchestrating the death of her mother, Patience Oluwakemi Umo Eno, who passed away in September 2024 after an undisclosed illness.
In the emotionally charged video, Mrs Ufot—who formerly served as the Governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Health, Safety, and Environment—claimed that her mother was “sacrificed” and said her own life and that of her young daughter are now under threat.
“I’m not a sacrifice. Mummy was, but I’m not,” she declared in the video, visibly distressed.
The outburst follows a series of cryptic posts on Ufot’s social media platforms over the past few weeks, in which she alluded to exposing a family member she believed was behind the deaths of several loved ones. In the latest video, she explicitly accused her father, Governor Umo Eno.
In one segment of the video, she handed her phone to her daughter, who appeared to be on a video call with the governor. Acting on her mother’s prompting, the child asked, “So, Grandpa, do you want them to kill us? Do you want them to die like my baby brother died?”
No audible response was heard from the governor during the exchange. It remains unclear who the child was referring to as “them.”
Mrs Ufot also claimed she had lost two brothers in addition to her mother and expressed fear that her life may be in danger for speaking out.
“If I die today, or my daughter dies—if we die because God is exposing the truth—so be it. But my blood will not go scot-free,” she said tearfully.
The video has sparked a flurry of reactions across social media. While some users expressed sympathy and called for an investigation, others questioned Ufot’s state of mind and suggested she may be under the influence of controversial religious groups. These groups, often referred to as prayer houses, have faced criticism for allegedly manipulating vulnerable individuals under the guise of spiritual guidance and deliverance.
As of the time of filing this report, Governor Umo Eno has not issued any official response to the allegations.
