The Bauchi State Government has announced the immediate and temporary closure of all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions in the state.

Jalaludeen Usman, the Public Relations Officer for the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, stated that the decision
“though difficult, was taken … after extensive consultations and in response to overwhelming security concerns.”
Why the Closure Was Decreed
According to the statement from the Education Ministry, Bauchi’s leadership assessed that the risks to learners and school staff have risen sharply, making it no longer safe for normal academic activities to continue.
Governor Bala Mohammed emphasised that the protection of children is the government’s
“highest moral responsibility,”
underscoring that no student should be forced to learn in a climate of fear.
Authorities are appealing for calm from parents, guardians, and school proprietors, urging them to cooperate with security agencies as they work to stabilise the situation.
In his address, Usman urged citizens to remain vigilant and proactive, famously advising:
