Bandits Attack Gatawa Community in Sokoto, Several Feared Dead and Others Taken Away

Residents of Gatawa community in Sabon-Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State were thrown into distress after armed groups entered the area late Saturday night.

According to a community member , the attackers

“entered the village suddenly and people began running in different directions for safety.”

The source added that local vigilante members tried to respond, but the attackers were heavily armed.

Early reports indicate that at least five people lost their lives, with a sixth person confirmed dead hours after sustaining injuries. Politics Nigeria also reported similar casualty figures, noting that the situation left families in emotional distress and uncertainty.

Beyond the casualties, several residents were taken away during the attack. Those abducted reportedly include women, teenagers, and young boys.

A resident told Politics Nigeria that the attackers also took livestock and other valuables, leaving affected households worried and unsure of the next steps.
