The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has denied claims that the ruling party is behind the internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing such insinuations as unfounded.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Morka countered the position of Kola Ologbondiyan, former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, who alleged that the recent wave of defections from opposition parties to the APC was due to fear of political witch-hunts.
Morka said the PDP should take responsibility for its own instability, pointing to its unresolved leadership issues as a sign of internal dysfunction.
“How can a party that can’t settle who its national chairman and secretary are be trusted to lead a country?” he asked. “My brother [Ologbondiyan] can’t seriously blame the APC for the dysfunction and immobility within his party.”
But Ologbondiyan insisted that defections won’t save the APC from public judgment in the 2027 elections.
“You may pack all the 36 governors into one boardroom, but have you packed the over 200 million Nigerians? The answer is no,” he said, adding that Nigerians will ultimately determine who remains in power.
