A Nigerian cleric has sparked widespread debate online after alleging that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has set aside ₦500 billion to mobilize religious leaders in northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a video reportedly aired by Rigasa TV News, the speaker believed to be Sheikh Sunusi Bello claimed that party representatives approached him to participate in the alleged political mobilization effort.

According to the cleric, individuals linked to the ruling party offered him a role in what he described as a massive ₦500 billion campaign mobilization plan targeting northern mallams.
He said he rejected the offer outright, claiming he did not want to be involved in what he portrayed as a political scheme tied to the upcoming elections.
The video quickly circulated on social media, attracting strong reactions from Nigerians across different platforms.

The claim has triggered mixed reactions among the public.
Some Nigerians expressed outrage over the alleged amount, pointing to the country’s ongoing economic challenges such as:
Rising inflation
Fuel price pressures
Security concerns
High cost of living
Others, however, questioned whether such a large amount could realistically be allocated for political mobilization.
Critics and analysts have also compared the alleged ₦500 billion claim with Nigeria’s 2026 national budget of about ₦58.47 trillion, arguing that allocating such funds for political activities would raise serious fiscal and political concerns.
As of the time of reporting, no official response has been issued by the APC regarding the allegation.

Political observers have noted that the claim remains unverified, as no evidence has yet been presented publicly to support the cleric’s statement.
However, the controversy has added to growing political conversations as early preparations and speculation surrounding the 2027 Nigerian elections continue to intensify.
