Nigerian actress Annie Macaulay publicly confirmed the end of her marriage to Afrobeats star Innocent “2Baba” Idibia during the 17th Headies Awards ceremony held on Sunday night in Atlanta, Georgia.
While presenting the award for Best Afrobeat Singer of the Year alongside Farooq Oreagba, famously dubbed the “King of Steeze” at the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival Macaulay stumbled while introducing herself, momentarily beginning to say “Annie Idi…” before correcting herself. “Oh sorry, Annie Macaulay. Hey, single ladies!” she declared, drawing loud cheers from the audience at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.
The public confirmation follows months of speculation surrounding the couple’s separation. Macaulay had earlier hinted at the split in March 2025, when she updated her Instagram profile to reflect her maiden name, Annie Uwana Macaulay, removing all references to “Idibia.”
2Baba, had announced the separation in January via a statement on social media, citing irreconcilable differences and requesting privacy for both families. Shortly after, the musician reportedly proposed to Nigerian lawmaker Natasha Osawaru at a private event attended by close friends and relatives. By April, Osawaru had been introduced to 2Baba’s family in Benue State, fuelling widespread speculation about a forthcoming wedding.
Macaulay and 2Baba’s relationship spanned over 20 years and was often under intense public scrutiny, marked by allegations of infidelity, public apologies, and emotional controversies. They married in 2012 and have two daughters, Isabel and Olivia.
