Kano State Government Reassures Residents of Safety, Says Viral Threat Alert Is Fake

In a fresh statement issued on Monday, the Kano State Government has firmly refuted circulating rumours suggesting an impending security crisis, affirming that the state remains safe, stable, and under control.

According to the government, no credible intelligence points to any imminent threat to public safety. The statement noted that the claims  widely shared on social media  were unfounded, unverified, and designed to provoke fear among residents.

Kano Security Agencies on Alert

The advisory follows a recent meeting of the State Security Council on Sunday, attended by heads of security agencies and chaired by Abba Kabir Yusuf, the state governor.

Security chiefs reportedly received briefings on ongoing operations across Kano.

In a strong rejection of the rumour, the government described the spread of such messages as sensational, malicious, and socially irresponsible. It warned those behind the fabrications to cease immediately or face legal consequences.

“There is no verified intelligence suggesting any imminent or significant threat to public peace in Kano,” the statement emphasised.

Meanwhile, security formations across the state have been placed on heightened alert. Personnel have been strategically deployed, working around the clock to ensure that every region remains under active surveillance.

Intelligence services, law enforcement agencies, and community networks are said to be working in close coordination to uphold peace.

Residents Urged to Stay Calm

Kano residents have been advised to go about their normal activities without fear, while exercising caution in their use of social media platforms and messaging apps.

The government pleaded for calm and encouraged Nigerians to rely on verified information from official sources rather than unconfirmed posts aimed at spreading panic.

The statement concluded with a pledge to maintain and strengthen security through improved intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration, and deployment of sophisticated mechanisms designed to protect lives and property.

“Kano will not succumb to fear, misinformation or attempts to destabilise its peace,” the release declared.

The Kano State Government’s swift rebuttal  backed by assurances from security agencies and a warning against further misinformation  aims to forestall unnecessary panic and reinforce public confidence.

As Tofa’s statement underscores, “the state remains calm and secure,” with all hands on deck to guard against both real and fabricated threats.
