Governor Otti Seals Tinubu’s Campaign Office In Abia Over Alleged Tax Violation (VIDEO)

The Abia State Government has sealed a campaign office linked to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Partners (RHP), situated on Ojike Street in Umuahia.

The action was led by officials from the Ministry of Lands and Housing who placed a government seal at the entrance of the building.

A notice pasted on the office door stated that the facility was shut for alleged violation of Sections 41 and 100 of the Abia State Tax Law (Law No. 7 of 2020).

The statement warned that removing or tampering with the seal would attract further penalties under the law.

The sealing reportedly occurred early in the morning, catching workers and supporters of the Renewed Hope Partners by surprise. Several individuals who arrived for their daily activities said they met the facility locked, with no prior communication from the government.

One staff member who expressed frustration said:

“We came in to resume work but found the gate locked. Nobody told us anything before now. The notice was just there on the door.”

He described the incident as shocking, especially since no official from the ministry approached them earlier for clarification or compliance.

Attempts to reach the contact numbers listed on the notice reportedly yielded no results as calls went unanswered.

The Ministry of Lands and Housing has not released an official statement to clarify whether the sealing was solely tax-related or connected to other issues.

The state government has, in recent months, emphasized stricter enforcement of tax compliance across public and private establishments.

This development is seen by some as part of that broader campaign, though others believe the timing may carry political undertones.

Abia State Governor Action

The sealing of the RHP office comes at a period of increased political tension in Abia State. With the political atmosphere gradually heating up ahead of the 2027 general elections, the development has sparked conversations across the state.

Some residents believe the action is purely administrative, pointing to the state government’s consistent stance on tax compliance.

However, others see it as a move that could deepen political rivalry in the state.

As political activities intensify, the sealing of a major campaign office connected to a national political figure has raised concerns about the neutrality of government actions.

Supporters of the group argue that the method of sealing the office  without prior engagement  sends a worrying signal.

A member of the group who reacted to the incident said:

“If there is a genuine tax issue, we are open to resolving it. But locking up the place without a conversation creates unnecessary tension.”

The office remains sealed as stakeholders await an official explanation from the government. Observers believe the next steps from both sides will determine whether the issue fades quietly or becomes a major political talking point in the months ahead.
