Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno to Cabinet: Join APC or Resign

In a dramatic political shift, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has ordered all members of his cabinet to either defect with him to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or vacate their positions.

The directive came during a State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting held on Thursday, where Governor Eno formally announced his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He said the move was driven by his admiration for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership style and a desire to align more closely with the Federal Government.

“Anyone who says they didn’t know I planned to leave the PDP is living in the 18th century,” the governor was quoted as saying.

Eno emphasized that loyalty to his new political path is non-negotiable, warning appointees who choose to remain in the PDP to step aside. “Except for elected officials like House of Assembly members and Local Government Chairmen, I have nothing to negotiate with anyone,” he stated.

He also dismissed any idea that those staying behind in the PDP could challenge his authority, declaring that he would maintain control of the party’s structure despite his defection.

The announcement has triggered political ripples across the state as stakeholders brace for the implications of the governor’s bold realignment.
