The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the government, praising Nigerian workers for their resilience, dedication, and critical role in national development.
“There is dignity in labour; the dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building,” the minister said, commending workers for their contributions to the country’s progress and global reputation.
He urged Nigerian workers to adopt a mindset of innovation and increased productivity, stating that such values are essential to driving sustainable development and enhancing the quality of governance.
“The culture of innovation and productivity must define our work. It is how we can elevate governance and ensure that all Nigerians benefit from the nation’s wealth,” Tunji-Ojo stated.
He reassured citizens of the administration’s ongoing efforts to secure lives and property across the country, adding that national stability is key to industrialisation and economic growth.
While extending warm wishes to workers for a joyful celebration, the minister encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed, noting that the Tinubu administration remains focused on delivering its Renewed Hope Agenda.
